Transforming lives through Christian literature
1983 – 2023
Avant Ministries (Gospel Missionary Union)
South America & Asia
Joe and Denise Goossen began their missionary service in 1984. They received Biblical and technical training at Grace University and Metropolitan Community College, both of which were in Omaha, NE. Their training spanned from 1974 to 1981 and were accepted by Gospel Missionary Union (Avant Ministries) in 1983. They were sent out by Community Bible Church, Omaha, NE, and Countryside Bible Church, Meade, KS.
Their first assignment was operating a printing press in South America. From there, they began their lessons in being flexible, moving to four different areas in Asia and Southeast Asia. War played a part in one of the moves. All this time, their main focus was printing Christian literature. They also trained workers, led Sunday School and/or Bible studies, and served as interim team leader and Regional Director over the Central Asian region.
They stated, “(We are) thankful for the privilege of serving in various countries with different languages and religions always with the desire to see God’s word get into the hands and hearts of the people. A personal relationship with God and the importance of His word have been the driving force of the work we’ve done. Seeing how the Word of God can completely change a person’s life has been wonderful to observe.”
Joe and Denise are presently attending Garden Community Church and live in Moundridge, KS. They serve as small group leader, assist in the children’s ministry, and serve as church librarian.
In their free time Joe loves woodworking, and Denise enjoys sewing and crafts. They both find delight in reading and making books and traveling, whether that be across the U.S. or around the world.
On behalf of the Commission on Global Partnerships and the FEBC we give glory to God and recognize Joe and Denise Goossen for 40 years of service to the Lord.
May God continue to bless your labors.
