Advent…

Advent…

a Christian season of preparation for Christmas

As I’ve reviewed several descriptions of Advent, a common thread of thought is that of a time of reflection looking forward in preparation.  We celebrate the birth and first coming of Christ as well as look forward with preparation in mind for the second coming of our Lord Jesus.

In a time when family gatherings are being planned, travel arrangements being made and Christmas events filling our schedule, how much time and effort is being invested in the Advent?

In some homes and churches an Advent wreath with candles is put on display as a reminder of the season.  How does your family display the meaning of Christmas?

In this Advent season, am I preparing, with a focus on the impact, of the coming, presence and return of Jesus in my life?

Isaiah 40:3

Isaiah says: “A voice of one calling: In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.” (ESV)
